Mel B: "I'm least close to Victoria"

Melanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, has spoken about maintaining friendships with her former Spice Girls bandmates, saying she is least close to Victoria Beckham.

When asked in a Guardian interview who she was closest to, the X Factor judge replied: "Well, I just saw Emma recently. I went to Mexico with her. Then I was talking to Mel C the other day. I guess I am least close to Victoria, because she has a whole empire to run and that girl is bu-u-usy."

Brown said she wasn't surprised that Beckam managed to build such an impressive fashion empire, explaining: "She's very savvy when it comes to business. She was the one who was, 'Let's look at this contract' and 'We're going to get this percentage here and that's going to go there'. Very savvy. She taught us all. I mean, we all taught each other stuff, but she taught us all."

The singer also spoke about her wish for the band to reform, saying: "I do think at some point we will get back together. For what, I don't know."

Eva Longoria inspired by Bono

Actress and philanthropist Eva Longoria revealed to Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show (November 7) that she is inspired by Bono.

Speaking about her philanthropy and activism the 39-year-old former Desperate Housewife explained that while she has been asked to help hundreds of different charities, Bono inspired her to focus her efforts on just one cause.

Longoria told Ryan: "I don't know him but I have such an amazing amount of respect for him and everything that he has done.

"He actually inspired me to be laser focused. He decided long ago to focus on AIDS in Africa and said 'I'm going to make a difference in this part of the world, in this particular issue'. When I started my foundation I thought the same thing.

"I get hundreds of requests a week to help save dolphins in Japan, to help AIDS in Africa, sex-trafficking in Thailand, and while these are all very important issues, I can't do them all. So when I saw Bono's model of philanthropy I thought, you know that's what I want to do, I'm going to be laser focused and make a really big difference in this particular area."

The Eva Longoria Foundaiton helps Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship.

Longoria also spoke about her time on Desperate Housewives, describing it as the "most fun in her life".

Dermot O'Leary: "Louis is fun time Frankie!"

Dermot O'Leary told Ryan Tubridy that he could not be on The X Factor without Louis Walsh.

The 41-year-old X Factor host appeared on The Late Late Show last night (November 7) and revealed to Ryan Tubridy that if you are looking for some fun Louis Walsh's dressing room is the place to be on a Saturday night.

O'Leary, who is extremely proud of his Irish roots, told Tubridy: "Normally as a rule Louis' is the one [dressing room] you go into because Louis is Fun Time Frankie, you can have a lot of fun with Louis.

"Louis is convinced that his dressing room is bugged. It's insane. If you walk in and you want to have a chat he goes, 'Come on, we have to go to the toilet because the dressing room is bugged,' so you go into the toilet and I go 'Louis, you have invited half of the Irish journalists from Dublin and they are out in your room. They would be the people bugging you if it was bugged'.

"He is a very weird man, but I love him dearly though. I couldn't make the show without Louis.

"Part of my job is to adlib so you walk on stage when the judges have all given their critique. Everyone is being relatively supportive and then at the last minute Louis just comes in and says something totally mental. And I'm going 'thank you so much you are the guy I can relate to!'"

JDIFF announces special Whiplash screening

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF) has announced that it is to hold a special advance screening of the Oscar-tipped Whiplash in Movies@Dundrum later this month.

The screening takes place on Tuesday November 18 at 7:00pm, and tickets will be available exclusively through www.jdiff.com.

To ensure a ticket people must sign up to the JDIFF mailing list. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Written and directed by Damien Chazelle, Whiplash tells the story of a gifted young drummer (Miles Teller) who becomes the pupil of a tyrannical instructor (JK Simmons) at a music conservatory.

Whiplash is released in cinemas on Friday January 16, 2015.

The 2015 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival runs from March 19-29.

Gráinne Humphreys, Festival Director, Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, said: "Without doubt, the most exciting aspect of my job is discovery of new talent. Travelling to over 20 different festivals a year, seeking out films and guests for the annual film jamboree that is JDIFF, I see a lot of new films - over 1,200 films a year at last count. But I can still recall every frame of seeing Whiplash for the first time.

"It was in Les Arcades, one of the smaller cinemas in Cannes. It was a sunny day and the packed audience didn't care about the weather as the advance word about this music drama was something special. And the film delivered on this advance promise...

"The spectacular sense of energy and tension which builds to a crescendo is both thrilling and emotional, the lead actors are both stunning and it's a film you will want to see again and again. It's my film pick of the year and a pleasure to share with Dublin audiences."

TEN's Best Dressed of the Week

It was a busy week for Hollywood stars and top models alike, but who were the leaders of the pack in the style stakes? See our favourite looks here.

1. Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson was a picture of Hollywood glamour in this stunning Gucci gown. The shape of the dress is classic but the iridescent material and gathered chiffon add a modern, fun twist embracing two of the biggest trends this Autumn/Winter season.

Hudson kept her accessories to a minimum opting for a silver bracelet and embellished clutch to complete the outfit. With loosely curled hair, a smoky eye and statement pink lipstick, we adore everything about this look.

2. Poppy Delevingne

Poppy Delevingne is known for her effortless cool and this look is no different. For us it's all about the grey fur coat and silver heels but the white off-shoulder dress underneath made sure Delevingne was eye-catching even when the heat got too much for her in the fur.

Opting for a high ponytail and minimal make-up, Delevingne's natural beauty shone through and she even managed to steal some attention from her younger sister Cara who was also at the event.

3. Cara Delevingne

The youngest Delevingne stunned in this one-shoulder black dress and we love the cape detail with just the right amount of sparkle for the glitzy affair. We can't get enough of her black peep-toe shoes with strap detailing, and her newly darkened hair in a loose braid added a youthful air to the look.

4. Hailee Steinfeld

The jumpsuit is quickly reaching LBD status among the stars and the structured, suit-like nature of Steinfeld's juxtaposed her long, messy hair ensuring she remained put together and stylish without looking as though she tried too hard.

This look needs no accessories but we love her smoky eye make-up and dark nails, and the strappy sandals are just out of this world.

5. Rachel Zoe

There's something very Disney princess about Rachel Zoe's hot pink, pleated gown and we're big fans. The dramatic shape and bold colour ensured the celebrity stylist stood out from the crowd and the addition of a metallic clutch, large earrings, bracelets and rings could easily have been a bit OTT but instead she is right on the money.

Side-swept blonde curls added an extra ounce of glamour to the look, but we just can't get Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty out of our heads!

6. Kate Beckinsale

7. Emily Ratajkowski

8. Jourdan Dunn

9. Karlie Kloss

10. Alexa Chung

Ed Sheeran to launch record label

Do you sound like Ed Sheeran? Do you have the ability to compose genius lyrics and brilliant melodies? If you found yourself answering 'yes' to any of the above, then Ed Sheeran could be your new employer.

The 23-year-old Give Me Love hitmaker is looking for performers similar to himself to launch his record label and already has his "first signing in mind."

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Sheeran said: "The door has now been opened I've set up the label and I'm going to start signing people. It'll be an imprint that goes through Warner. But I'll get the rights back in about 10 years. I've got my first signing in mind. I'm looking at people like me, who came through the singer-songwriter scene. I'm going to focus on this when I'm on tour next year."

He added: "Hopefully the acts will be up and running by the time I take time off... The first time I properly thought about it was when I took Passenger on tour for two years. I took him into my record company and played them the record but they didn't get it. Then I was too busy on my own stuff and I let it slide. Then he had a worldwide number one.

"After that, everyone was like, 'Maybe Ed does know what he's talking about'... I have a tour and Twitter so I can put them (artists) in front of my fans instantly. I can sit down with heads of radio stations and ask whether they will play it on the radio. I'm in a really fortunate position to be able to break acts."

According to Rolling Stone, he said: "Musicians like to do new things. It's unfortunate for the fans, really, because they would like you to play the same old stuff forever and ever. And they go see it and they feel like, 'Man, they aren't as good as they used to be'.

"I'm very happy doing new things. I've got a couple of albums coming in the next year."

Manzanera added: "We have some fantastic box sets of the first two albums out next year. There's all sorts of things, extra [Brian] Eno ingredients and stuff. I'm very excited about it."

Blunt's record label not a fan of his tweets

He's known for his witty and humorous tweets, with some of them even going viral, but James Blunt has revealed that he was told to stop responding to people on Twitter by his record company.

Speaking to Heat magazine, Blunt said: "My record label set up the account and asked me to answer people, so I did. Then they phoned me up and asked me to stop."

Regarding his tweets, he adds, "Some have been funnier than others... If I think the person I'm replying to might be harassed as a result, I Dm (direct message) them to say it's all in good humour, and if any of my followers give them hassle, they can let me know...

"I don't want it to be part of that hate-filled cycle that seems to purvey though the Internet... I play to thousands of people each night, who all bought tickets, and train tickets and hotel rooms, and queued up for hours outside a venue, but instead of them, we focus on the five guys in their bedrooms with their trousers round their ankles writing a few nasty words about my music."

James' single When I Find Love Again and the album Moon Landing: Apollo Edition are both out now.

Ash's Tim Wheeler opens up about death of his dad

Ash frontman Tim Wheeler says that he came to terms with the death of his father George by writing his debut solo album, Lost Domain.

Wheeler's father was a District Court judge from Dublin who settled in Downpatrick. He passed away in 2011 after a three-year battle with Alzheimer's.

The Ash singer wrote Lost Domain as a tribute to his late father and he says that the album's centrepiece, the eight-minute-long Medicine, is the most personal track on the record.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, Wheeler said: "I wrote Medicine one day after I'd been to see dad in the dementia ward."

He continued: "It was a kind of stream of consciousness thing written after seeing the way he was acting - seeing people who weren't there, taking his pills and spitting them out when the nurse wasn't looking and throwing them across the room.

"All the crazy things he was doing, trying to find his car keys and wallet, which he didn't have any more, and trying to escape the situation..."

He added: "There was so much to process that I just spewed it out in a song. I knew when I was getting to the end of the album... I realised there was a part of the story I hadn't told and that was about his last few days and the way our family shared that moment and came together.

"It was a beautiful bonding time even though it was really difficult, and also, how amazing it is to see how humans care for each other."

Wheeler, who has been living in New York for the past seven years, also says that a new Ash album is nearly finished and is due in Spring 2015.

Lost Domain is out on November 7. Wheeler plays The Bush Hall, London on November 4, Deaf Institute, Manchester on November 5, ABC2, Glasgow on November 6, and The Oh Yeah Centre, Belfast on November 7.

Watch RTÉ TEN's interview with Tim Wheeler below.

Look! Katie Melua finds spider living in her ear

So much for the itsy bitsy spider climbing up the waterspout! Katie Melua has revealed that a doctor removed a spider from her ear, which had been living there for a week.

The 30-year-old Nine Million Bicycles singer posted a picture of the spider on her Instagram account, she wrote: ''So I had a rustling in my ear for a week and went to the doctor to have it checked out this morning. THIS little fella is what they found!''

Explaining the odd situation on the social networking site, she said: ''Basically I used these old in-ear monitors to block out sound on a flight, little spider must have been in them and crawled inside my ear and stayed there for the week.

''It was no hassle at all, apart from the occasional shuffling noises...''

She added: "Though the thing looked TERRIFYING up-close on the doctor's camera, once he took him out ( using a micro Hoover ) it was pretty small, and now its in this little test tube, alive and seemingly fine.''

Katie's rep further revealed that the arachnid is now in a safe place, saying: ''Katie kept it in the test tube and released it in her garden when she got home.

''Apart from shuffling and random noises in her ear, the spider was no bother for the entire week it lived there.''

Hathaway believes in 'other life forms'

Anne Hathaway has revealed the real reason why she took part in new science fiction film Interstellar - and it's not for the hefty pay cheque.

The 31-year-old actress believes there are other life forms in the universe, but is unsure of what they would look like.

Speaking to The Mail on Sunday newspaper, Hathaway said: ''I've never had any problem with the idea that there is other life in the universe.

''Does that life look exactly like us? Probably not. In fact, I couldn't even imagine what these other life forms might look like, or what set of values they might hold or knowledge they might understand.''

She continued: ''I've always thought it's highly unlikely there's nothing out there. I certainly don't struggle to believe that they exist.''

Interstellar hits cinemas on November 7.

Harrelson: 'Jennifer Lawrence hasn't changed'

Hunger Games actor Woody Harrelson loves how his co-star Jennifer Lawrence hasn't been affected by fame.

The 53-year-old True Detective star thinks it's great that JLaw has remained down-to-earth despite becoming the ''biggest female star in the world''.

Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine about the first time the pair met, he said: ''She'd just done a movie, and people in the industry knew her, but she wasn't really famous. And so I watched her grow into, amazingly, the biggest female star in the world. And it's staggering to me how much she's been able to just hold on to her basic decency and her amazing, marvellous spirit.

''You know, it's not terrible, people tell you you're great; what's terrible is when you start believing it. She never got f***ed up.

''She's an amazing girl. She's one of my favourite people on the planet.''

Harrelson added: "She's just very forthcoming. It's almost shocking how much she'll say, you know. That's super-fun, and also it's shocking sometimes because it's so on the edge.

''It's like she doesn't have a censor. I really love that in people. I guess there are some people I don't love it in, but in her it's wonderful.''

Strictly judge says people 'tired of X Factor'

Written By Unknown on Sabtu, 01 November 2014 | 23.37

Craig Revel Horwood has claimed that people are getting "tired" of The X Factor.

The 49-year-old Strictly Come Dancing judge also admitted that he would be sad to see the ITV show end - but only because it unearths new talent for his own musicals.

Horwood also acknowledged that Strictly is winning the UK TV ratings war: "It is. And that's because people are getting a bit tired of the format of The X Factor.

"If Cheryl and Simon can't grab the audience, then I don't know what they can do, really. I sort of hope it isn't [the end], because they generally do all the groundwork for me for my musicals by doing all the auditions and I get to see loads of new talent that way.

"So it would be a sad occasion if it was to leave our screens, but I'm sure Simon will come up with some fabulous replacement for it."

Strictly Come Dancing has been consistently beating The X Factor in the UK TV ratings, and last Sunday it pulled in two million more viewers than its rival.

Hoorah! The Simpsons are here to stay!

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean has insisted that there is no "end in sight" for the popular animated sitcom.

The long-running series first aired in 1989 on Fox, and is currently airing its 26th season, but it looks like Homer and the gang won't be leaving Springfield anytime soon.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Jean said: "I don't see an end in sight - ratings are really good. I think it's going to go at least two more years, maybe four, maybe more.

"I've stopped trying to predict, because it always goes much further than anybody dreams."

When asked if a second Simpsons movie was on the cards, he said: "No-one wants to do a bad movie. We have ideas [for a second film] but it's a really tough bar it's gotta pass."
