Corrie's Kylie on downward spiral

Written By Unknown on Senin, 02 Desember 2013 | 23.37

Coronation Street actress Paula Lane has revealed it won't be a very merry Christmas for Kylie Platt.

It's been a tough year for the Platt family (what's new!) and the festive period is not going to be a bundle of fun either.

With David and Kylie's marriage all but over, Kylie is barely keeping it together, and as Christmas draws nearer she hits rock bottom.

Speaking to Digital Spy the 27-year-old actress said: "Kylie is already on a downward spiral. Her marriage is on the rocks. I think Kylie has to get right down to rock bottom in order to get back up, so that's what is going to happen.

"There'll be lots of tantrums and tears at Christmas. Kylie will be feeling sorry for herself, because she's got massive insecurities. She won't be a favourite on the street at Christmas time, and I'm fully prepared for people to say they have no sympathy for her, because actually I don't have a lot of sympathy for her either.

"I think she needs to buck her ideas up a little bit, but reverting to her wild ways is her defence mechanism. Kylie does that because she hasn't had the love, care and attention that a lot of people usually have during their childhood. She reverts back to her old self and she pushes people away, rather than accepting their help."

Will Ferrell: I'm a middle-aged One Direction

Anchorman star Will Ferrell reckons his popularity with teenagers has turned him into a ''46-year-old version'' of One Direction.

The actor, who plays hapless newsreader Ron Burgundy in the comedy movie, explained that most of his fans are teenagers.

Speaking about one particular incident in Seattle, Ferrell joked: ''We had gone out to dinner, and by the time we had left the restaurant, there was a mob of high school kids outside. There was a panel that blocked part of the window and they were jumping up trying to look.

''I'm a 46-year-old version of One Direction. All five of them packed into one middle-aged guy.''

Speaking to The Sunday Times magazine, Ferrell also said he was shy growing up. 'I had to meet everyone and until I was comfortable with everyone I didn't say a word. Once I got to speak, everyone saw my true colours.

''And it'd be like, 'Wait, you're funny!' It's not that I lacked confidence. I never felt the need to impress anyone, but I wanted to feel that I belonged.''

Ferrell also doesn't think he deserves his A-list status, saying: ''[I have] massive imposter syndrome. [I always] felt that I had snuck into this black-tie after-party, and at any moment I'll discover that I'm not only not meant to be here, but I'm also not wearing a tux. I'm wearing shorts.''

Damian Lewis on Brody drug scenes

Damian Lewis has spoken about the preparation he undertook for season three of Homeland.

The series sees his character Nicholas Brody deal with drug addiction while being held captive.

Lewis told Entertainment Weekly about the research he did into addiction before filming the series.

He explained: "I saw this extraordinary video on YouTube where a guy charts his withdrawal at different intervals... as he goes cold turkey.

"But I found it more interesting to speak to a friend of mine who's an ex-heroin addict who deals with people with addiction, and he put me in touch with ex-addicts - or, I suppose, addicts - who are now working with people.

"I had a fascinating hour with a guy working in a Charlotte, North Carolina addiction unit at a hospital there.

"Fairly conventional modes of research, talking to people, getting anecdotal evidence, watching video and trying to reproduce that.

"[It was] fascinating, interesting and exhausting."

Lewis added: "I feel added responsibility when portraying real-life conditions because there're people out there living with these conditions and you owe it to them to represent it honestly.

"There's the added burden of trying to get it right and not letting a community of people down who suffer from this addiction. You want to represent them faithfully."

The next episode of season three of Homeland airs on RTÉ Two at 9pm on Tuesday December 3.

Bullock not looking for a relationship

Sandra Bullock has said that she's not looking for a new relationship.

Bullock was married to Jesse James for five years, and adopted son Louis in 2010. The couple broke up shortly afterwards following allegations that James had been unfaithful.

The Gravity star told Entertainment Weekly that she is happy to raise her son as a single mother.

The actress said: "If [a relationship] should come along, great. But I feel like I'm not missing anything yet. Maybe one day I will.

"My son is three years old, which is an amazing age. Four is an even better age. So if something happens, great, but if not, I've got plenty to do."

Bullock also opened up on how she views her life, saying that the painful moments help her appreciate positive events.

She explained: "When people are like, 'Life is good,' I go, 'No, life is a series of disastrous moments, painful moments, unexpected moments, and things that will break your heart. And in between those moments, that's when you savor, savor, savor.'"

Odenkirk opens up on Breaking Bad spinoff

Bob Odenkirk has opened up on the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul.

The series, which is based around Walter White's lawyer Saul Goodman, will be written by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, AMC announced last September.

Odenkirk told Access Hollywood of his new show: "I've got the best writers in Hollywood. Maybe it's prequel? Maybe it's sequel? Maybe it's both? They're talking about mixing it up."

He added: "You may see a little of before [Breaking Bad], and a little of after. We'll see… I do feel pressure. I feel a lot of pressure to do a good job.

"I don't think you can keep Breaking Bad going. It ended. And it was great. And it was what it was. This is going to be something new. But since it's so much of the same team, it's going to be a quality piece of work.

"I just want to bring all I can bring to it, and be completely focused."

Odendirk said of working on Breaking Bad: "We had a lot of fun. We had wonderful people too. Bryan Cranston set the tone [by saying], 'We're here to work'."

He continued: "Aaron Paul is a very sweet person. [The cast are] funny people too… It was just a great group who were thankful to be in a great show."

Better Call Saul is scheduled to debut on AMC in the US next year.
