It has been announced that the final of the All Island School Choir of the Year Competition will be staged at the new Titanic Centre in Belfast this year.
Four school choirs are set to sing on the steps of the famous replica Titanic dining-room grand staircase on the top floor of the new iconic building in Belfast when the show in presented by Anne Cassin on Sunday, November 11.
The first regional final of the competition, from the School of Music in Cork, will feature on RTÉ One on Sunday next, October 14 at 17.10. Over the next four weeks regional finals will take place in Cork, Castlebar, Drogheda and Ballymena. The four regional winners will take part in the live final.
The competition is organised by CoOperation Ireland, in association with RTÉ and is the fourth series.
The five schools to feature in the first regional event are Colaiste Iosaef, Kilmallock Co Limerick; Loreto Secondary School, Fermoy, Saint Mary's Mercy Secondary School, Macroom; Regina Mundi, Douglas, Cork and Colaiste an Chroi Naofa, Carraig na bhFearr.
Next week's regional final from the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, will feature five more schools: St. Joseph's Mercy Secondary School, Castlebar; Loreto St Michael's, Navan; Saint Finian's College, Mullingar; St. Leo's Mercy Secondary School, Carlow and Sacred Heart Mercy Secondary School, Tullamore.
