Donaghmede troubadour Damien Dempsey performs the title track from his new album Almighty Love in Dublin's Working Man's Club for RTÉ Ten and talks about where he's been for the past five years.
Speaking to RTÉ Ten the 37-year-old singer, says that he spent time in Australia with the Aboriginal people, scuba diving in Thailand and writing songs in London.
"I was out in Australia hanging with the Aboriginals, it's ingenious the way they live off the land and the way nature is their god," Dempsey says.
"I spent six months out in Australia and then I went to Thailand and I was out on the islands, scuba diving and doing Thai boxing lessons. Then I was in London. The pond was empty so I had to restock the pond."
Dempsey says that he has learned restraint on his new album. "I didn't want to be shoving things down people's throats and lecturing people. Beating people around the head with what's going on with the banks and the government.
"There are more personal songs on this album which maybe I wouldn't have been able to write in my twenties."
