Sting, Bruce Springsteen and Christina Aguilera led a group of celebrities who performed and presented at a special telethon last night to aid the victims of Superstorm Sandy.
The Voice USA judge Christina Aguilera began the celebrity performances by belting out a powerful rendition of her hit Beautiful.
Looking demure in a metallic purple jacket and black dress, the 31 year-old, who was born in Staten Island but brought up in Pennsylvania, performed while clips of the devastation which has occured were played. The damage from the Superstorm has been extensive across New York and New Jersey, with 88 lives lost so far.

Following Aguilera's performance was Jon Bon Jovi. The New Jersey native visited victims in his home town earlier this week, and appeared last night to perform an acoustic mash-up of some of his most memorable songs, followed by Billy Joel.

Steven Tyler, Jimmy Fallon, Bruce Springsteen and Joel all performed Under The Boardwalk together.

The telethon was hosted by Jon Stewart and a number of celebrities and personalities appeared to encourage the public to dig deep and donate to those in need after the disaster.

Mary J. Blige, Tina Fey, Kevin Bacon, Danny DeVito and Whoopi Goldberg. Blige and Goldberg both hail from New York City.

Sting performed the Police classic Message In A Bottle at the telethon, which was staged in 30 Rockefeller Plaza with a small invited group of guests.
