Alice in Wonderland sequel likely

An Alice in Wonderland sequel movie is increasingly likely as Disney Studios reportedly declared its interest.

And according to Variety, renowned animation screenwriter Linda Woolverton is writing a follow-up to the Tim Burton-directed 2010 film.

The first film starred Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham-Carter and proved to be a huge success.

The 3D movie earned $1 billion worldwide and also won Oscars for art direction and costume design.

Woolverton previously wrote Disney films such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Incredible Journey and Homeward Bound as well as Alice in Wonderland.
