Gere had 'not heard of Pattinson'

Richard Gere, who was last week photographed with Twilight star Robert Pattinson, has admitted that he did not know who the international star was.

The pair attended a lunch in Hollywood last week and posed for pictures but Gere later told E! News that he was not aware of the Twilight movies or Pattinson.

He said "He was a perfectly nice guy, but I had no idea. I was getting calls from my wife [Carey Lowell] going, 'What are you doing with him? He's so cute, but what are you doing with him?'"

He added that he is not that good on popular culture saying "My wife is aware of these things [but] I don't know that she's a fan [of Twilight]."

Gere will next be seen in Arbitrage which is the story of a billionaire hedge fund manager who makes a bad financial decision.
