Following changes at her record label and an acclaimed appearance in cult movie Holy Motors, Kylie Minogue is reportedly planning to take an extended break from the music industry to concentrate on her acting career.
The singer, who marked 25 years as a performer last year, wants to focus on her acting according to a report in The Mirror.
Minogue has apparently split from her long-term manager Terry Blamey, who helped launch her career.
"Kylie's decision to stop recording for the time being and part company with Terry has come as a massive shock," a "source" told the paper.
"Ever since she broke into the charts in the '80s, Terry has been the man behind the scenes. But now Kylie is saying she wants to pull back from the pressures that come with a music career.
"She says she's determined to devote more time both to herself and to her career as an actress."
It's claimed that she parted ways with her manager after tension arose because he and her father, Ron, had different opinions on where her career should go.
Changes at her label are also said to have been behind the decision. Her former record company Parlophone is now part of Universal Records.
"Kylie used to be a big fish at her former label. She's now been put into a huge roster of acts at Universal and probably can't expect the special treatment she was used to," a "source" added.
"She may be thinking she's achieved most of what she wants as a pop star."
