Damian Lewis is set to return for Homeland's third season, it has been confirmed.
Executive producer Howard Gordon said that the actor will continue to play Nicholas Brody on the Showtime drama.
The second series of the show ended with Claire Danes' character Carrie Mathison helping Brody escape from the grasp of the CIA and become a fugitive.
Gordon told TVLine: "He's alive so of course he'll be back. One of the great challenges of next [season] is how he'll be back. But there's no doubt that he will be back."
Fellow executive producer Alex Gansa previously revealed that Lewis's involvement in season three was "an open question".
Gansa explained: "We had a much clearer picture of what the first two seasons would be than we do of what the third season would be. "Damian's involvement and [the actors who play Brody's family] is very much up in the air."
Homeland excelled at this year's Golden Globes, picking up the Best Television Series (Drama) Award and the Best Actor and Actress in a drama series gongs for it's stars Lewis and Danes.
