Today is UNESCO's World Radio Day and to celebrate RTÉ Radio is broadcasting specially recorded inserts across Radio 1, 2fm, RnaG and on RTÉ Digital Radio.

Speaking to RTÉ TEN, 2fm's Ryan Tubridy said: "I've always been a radio head when I was young there were radios everywhere in the house, including the bathroom.
"I love the intimacy of radio which is Tea, toast and melting butter to TV's bungee jump and Red Bull."
Larry Gogan added: "To me radio is like a friend. No matter where you go it's always with you, in your car, in your bed, in the kitchen.
"There's no other media like it, that you can carry with you wherever you go and keeps you informed with what's going on in the world and most importantly, it entertains you."
2fm Weekenders presenter Paddy McKenna said: "Growing up in Leitrim, listening to radio, Gerry Ryan was my hero. I remember the show where he and his entire team went naked for the show.
"He spent three hours describing in meticulous detail the various implications of naked broadcasting. It remains my burning ambition to emulate that show on 2fm. Ruth Scott remains bizarrely reticent. The power of radio!"
The Electric Disco's Jenny Greene said: "My radio world is all about the music and the dance. It's such a feeling to connect with the audience whether they are in Clonakilty or on Bondi Beach. Irish people love their radio, we love our music and we love to chat.
"It's the global community right in your home. What could be better?"
Clare Duignan, MD RTÉ Radio, added: "All international Radio organisations are invited to actively inform their listeners about World Radio Day 2013.
"RTÉ Radio is delighted to strengthen WRD 2013 by taking part on and off air. Radio is up there as one of our most universal media.
"Every day in Ireland, 1,866,000 (52%) of adults listen to RTÉ Radio. It's an awesome statistic, and testament to the scale and power of the medium."
