Steve Martin becomes first-time dad

Comic actor Steve Martin has become a father for the first time, at the age of 67, according to reports.

The Father of the Bride star and his wife, 41-year-old writer Anne Stringfield, are said to have welcomed their first child in December, but managed to keep the happy news a secret until now.

A source broke the news to the New York Post gossip column Page Six saying: "They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows. Steve's very private. They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby."

Martin married his second wife Stringfield in 2007 at a surprise ceremony where celebrity guests including Tom Hanks and Diane Keaton arrived expecting a party.
