Irish actors join new US TV shows

Irish actors Edward MacLiam, Ruth Bradley and Stuart Townsend have been cast in the pilot episodes of planned US television series.

Deadline.com reports that MacLiam (Greg Douglas in Holby City) will play the lead role of Dr Grant Carlson in Big Thunder, which is set in a 19th-century frontier mining town and is based on the Disney rollercoaster ride of the same name.

Bradley is one of his co-stars in the series and will play Nora, "a nanny with a dark, hidden past".

Townsend has been cast in the male lead role opposite Hannah Ware (Boss, Shame) in Betrayal.

It tells the story of Sara (Ware), a married photographer who has an affair with a married lawyer named Jack (Townsend), only to discover that he is defending a murder suspect who is being prosecuted by her husband.
