Love/Hate star in new BBC drama

Love/Hate star Charlie Murphy (Siobhán) is among the cast of the BBC's epic period drama series The Village.

The series, the BBC says, charts "the life and turbulent times of one English village across the whole of the 20th century".

"The camera never leaves the village. Births, deaths, love and betrayal, great political events, upheavals in national identity, ways of working, rules kept and rebellions made, sex, religion, class, the shaping of modern memory - all refracted through the lives of the villagers and the village..."

Murphy plays Martha Lane in the series, and the cast also includes Maxine Peake and John Simm.

Written by BAFTA winner Peter Moffat (Silk, Criminal Justice), The Village will begin on BBC One in the coming weeks, broadcast date yet to be announced.
