Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson caused a stir on social networking sites over the weekend when reports circulated indicating that the wrestler-turned-actor wanted a part in the next Star Wars movie.
Speaking exclusively to RTÉ TEN at the press launch for his new action adventure G.I Joe Retaliation, Dwayne set the record straight.
He said: "It's just funny how things morph into this. Somebody asked me if I was interested in that and I was like 'yeah of course'. Now I'm sitting here and we're talking to Ireland about me being in Star Wars. That would be cool.
"I grew up watching Star Wars and what I said was 'so you can imagine how cool it was for me to get the call about G.I Joe'. It would essentially be like if George Lucas called me or J.J. Abrams called me and said 'hey I want you to be in Star Wars'. It just has that deep rooted connection."
He joked: "So how are we going to do it? You're going to call Abrams and you're going to tell him The Rock should be in Star Wars."
G.I Joe Retaliation hits cinemas on March 27.
