Alt-J and SandÃ© among Ivor Novello nods

Alt-J, Emeli Sandé, Bat For Lashes and Jake Bugg are among the nominations for this year's Ivor Novello Awards, the most prestigious and coveted gong show in music.

Sande's song Next To Me is in the running to be named Best Song Musically and Lyrically and is shortlisted along with Laura by Bat For Lashes, Jake Bugg's Two Fingers.

Alt-J are nominated for Best Contemporary song for Fitzpleasure and Album Award for their debut An Awesome Wave, which has sold 600,000 copies globally since its release last year.

The Ivors Novello Award is now in its 58th year and are highly prized by musciians because they are voted for by songwriters and composers.
