Corrie favourite to discover dad's death

One of Coronation Street's most-loved characters will discover that their father has passed away in an upcoming storyline on the soap.

Warning: spoiler alert!

Inside Soap reports that Roy (David Neilson) discovers that his estranged father St John died in February.

Roy and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) visit St John's grave, whose headstone reads: "Father to Jonathan, Stephen, Isabelle and Royston."

A show source told Inside Soap: "Roy has a lot of thinking to do - this is a whole side of his family he has no relationship with. It's a big step to make contact. Is Roy ready?

"It's clearly a sad moment for Roy as he lays some flowers down on the grave. Thankfully, Hayley is by his side to help him cope."
