HBO to make Nora Ephron film

Late filmmaker Nora Ephron is set to have her life and career relived on the small screen, as HBO announce a documentary helmed by her son.

HBO this week announced the documentary which will be directed and co-produced by her eldest son, New York Times writer Jacob Bernstein. Everything Is Copy will be "an intimate portrait" of the filmmaker, which follows on from Bernstein's tribute to his mother, which was published in the New York Times last month.

Among the team behind the production will be HBO producers Matt Parker and Carly Hugo, as well as Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter as an executive producer.

Ephron shot to fame as a journalist and novelist before a segway in to playwriting and directing. Some of her most famous films include 1998's You've Got Mail, Bewitched (2005) and Julie & Julia (2009). Her BAFTA Award-winning screenplay of When Harry Met Sally was also Oscar-nominated for Best Writing.

Ephron died in June 2012 from pneumonia at age 71, resulting from her battle with myeloid leukemia. She was first diagnosed with the disease six years previously.

Tom Hanks also gave a rousing speech and tribute to Ephron, with tears and jokes, at the Women in the World Summit this week.

"Nora's writing was about the world as witnessed by her. Everything was copy, but she was still her own editor," Hanks said of the late director, whom he worked with throughout his career, beginning with 1993's Sleepless in Seattle.
