James Plunkett's classic novel Strumpet City can be heard on Radio 1 all month, starting tonight on The Book On One, while Villagers are in session tonight on Dan Hegarty's The Alternative on fab RTÉ 2fm.

To tie in with the Dublin: One City, One Book initiative, throughout the month of April James Plunkett's epic novel will be The Book on One. Strumpet City is read by Barry McGovern, and tells the story of the mass lock-out of trade unionists by employers in Dublin in 1913. The novel features a wonderfully memorable cast of characters, not least of which is the city itself. A new edition of Strumpet City which was first published in 1969, has just been issued by Gill & Macmillan.
