Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin is to present a new Sunday morning summer series on RTÉ Radio 1, Aoibhinn & Company.
PhD candidate and broadcaster Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin is to present a new Sunday morning summer series on RTÉ Radio 1, Aoibhinn & Company.
The hour-long show begins at 10:00am on Sunday July 14 with Ní Shúilleabháin joined each week by a guest who "will talk about their life, their times, the passions that drive them, the influences that formed them" and choose their favourite music.
The team behind the show said Ní Shúilleabháin "brings a new woman's voice to RTÉ Radio 1 with a breadth of interest and knowledge that runs from mathematics, to science, to literature, to plain good fun. Aoibhinn will be talking to a broad range of people from different walks of life, music, books, sport and lifestyle."
Ní Shúilleabháin said: "I am very excited about the programme and I'm really looking forward to working with the team. I've grown up listening to Radio 1 and it's wonderful to be given this opportunity."
Lorelei Harris, Editor of Arts, Features and Drama on RTÉ Radio 1, said: "We're delighted to have the opportunity of working with Aoibhinn and of bringing her infectious enthusiasm, her intelligence, wit and charm to the Radio 1 audience on Sunday mornings."
