Their own entry into the world of rap wasn't exactly "da bomb" but Michael Stipe of R.E.M. has said that he is "thrilled" with Jay-z's use of lyrics from Losing My Religion on his new opus, Magna Carta . . . Holy Grail.
Speaking to The NME, Stipe gave his stamp of approval to Heaven, a track from Jay's album which quotes lyrics from R.E.M.s 1991 breakout hit.
"I've known Jay for a long time, he's super cool, super grounded, super smart and super talented," Stipe said. "I've always had the deepest respect for him, and his music and choices. We're thrilled (for our lyrics) to be included, it's a really great honour."

R.E.M., who split up in late 2011 after 30 years together, dipped their toes into hip-hop when they invited KRS-One, leader of Boogie Down Productions, to rap on the tongue-in-cheek Irish No 5 hit single Radio Song from their album Out of Time.
