The Boy is back in town! The Phil Lynott statue outside Bruxelles bar on Dublin's Harry Street was returned to its rightful place today following repairs carried out after it was vandalised last May.
Phil's mother Philomena Lynott unveiled the re-instated eight-foot bronze statue of the late Thin Lizzy frontman who sadly passed away aged 36 in 1986.
Speaking on Morning Ireland earlier today, Philomena spoke of her delight at the statue's return. "Everybody who passes by gets their picture taken with Phil and when all the rockers are in town playing their gigs they all go down and have their picture taken with it," she said.
"I always remember that when I was growing up in Dublin there were lots of statues in town but I didn't know who any of them were," she added. "I knew O'Connell because that was on O'Connell Street but it was always covered in bird sh***. There's no bird sh*** on my Phil!"
Phil's statue, which was commissioned by the Roisín Dubh Trust which commenorates the Thin Lizzy man's work and sculpted by Paul Daly, had to be removed from its plinth outside Bruxelles, which was a regular watering hole for Phil and Dublin's rock and metal fraternity, after two young men pushed it over last May.
The repairs are said to include a large metal rod in the pavement outside Bruxelles to prevent people from knocking it over again.
These images were released by Gardai to show the damage to the statue.
