Eastenders star David Witts has decided to leave the popular show of his own accord and is currently filming his exit scenes.
The 22-year old actor, who has been playing Joey Branning since 2012, will depart Walford at Christmas.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, an EastEnders spokesperson said: "We can confirm that David is leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish him all the best for the future."
David will feature in a key plot for the rest of the year as Joey gets involved in the climax of his sister Alice's dark storyline with Michael Moon.
