Julie Hesmondhalgh has reassured soap fans that it won't be a blubfest on Coronation Street this Christmas.
Warning: Spoiler Alert!
Hesmondhalgh has assured fans that her character Hayley Cropper won't die over the festive season.
The 43-year-old actress is departing the show to focus on new projects, after playing Hayley for 15 years.
Julie recently spoke out about her character's health woes and revealed she has received "overwhelming support" during Hayley's exploration of the "right to die" issue in her battle against terminal cancer.
Antony Cotton, who plays Weatherfield's Sean Tully, tweeted yesterday about how much he is going to miss Julie: "Sat in me dressing room ready for @juliehes's last day ever on Coronation Street. Feel numb. What a depressing day #thankyouforallofit"
While Julie may have filmed her final scenes on the Street yesterday (November 18), the actress has assured fans that Hayley will not pass away as part of the soap's festive storylines.
Julie tweeted: " Thank you Corrie for amazing send off yesterday. And thanks for all your lovely messages on here. I can't bear it! Away for few days now xx
" ...and I promise it's not a Xmas tear fest. We're way past Xmas in Weatherfield now. xxx"
