Open auditions are due to take place in Dublin next week for two lead roles in the next Star Wars film with film makers looking for a young female and a young male actor.

According to a BBC report, casting sessions for Star Wars: Episode VII start later this week in Dublin, London, and Glasgow for a "street smart and strong" orphaned girl in her late teens and a "smart capable" man in his late teens or early 20s.

Girls auditioning for the female role must be over 16 while males must be over 18.

The open auditions for a "major Hollywood Movie" were first published on the twitter account @UKopencall, which announced a "nationwide search for lead roles for a Disney movie".

Disney Ireland declined to comment on or confirm the Dublin auditions when contacted by RTÉ Ten. According to the twitter account of @ukopencall the Dublin auditions will take place at Filmbase on Curved Street, Temple Bar on November 24 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Lucasfilm have also declined to comment but there is speculation that the characters have been given non sci-fi names and descriptions in the announcement in an effort to disguise the auditions are for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Director JJ Abrams, who is also co-scripting the movie, will not be attending the open auditions which begin in Bristol on November 9.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to begin shooting at Pinewood Studios in spring 2014, for an expected 2015 release.
