British comedian John Fortune, who is best known for his work in Bremner, Bird and Fortune, has died at the age of 74.
His agent released a statement saying "It is with great sadness that I write of the death of John Fortune this morning.
"He died peacefully with his wife, Emma and dog Grizelle, at his bedside.
"A renowned satirist, early work included contributions to Peter Cook's Establishment club and more latterly his work with long term collaborators, John Bird and Rory Bremner.
"He is survived by his adored wife, Emma and three children."
The Channel 4 series, Bremner, Bird and Fortune, which ran for 16 series satirised British politics. Fortune also appeared in Rory Bremner's BBC Two comedy, Now Something Else. The programme later moved to Channel 4 with the changed name of Rory Bremner And Who Else? In 1997 Fortune won a joint-BAFTA with John Bird for his work on the show.
