Eastenders star Gary Lucy leaving

Eastenders star Gary Lucy is departing the BBC One soap, it has been revealed.

The actor, who has played the character Danny Pennant since September 2012, has already filmed his final scenes for the show.

A spokesperson for the popular soap commented: We can confirm that Gary is leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish him all the best for the future."

Lucy thanks his fans on Twitter for their support following the news of his exit, writing: "thank you for your messages loved my time @Ee interesting character with lots of scope see u later rather than good bye ;-) ps more 2 come x"

The Daily Star reports that Lucy's final scenes will be aired next month.
