Golden Globes do American Hustle

Con artist comedy American Hustle was the big winner in the film categories at the Golden Globes in the US on Sunday night, winning three awards.

The David O Russell film won the awards for Best Film (Comedy or Musical), while stars Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence were named Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) and Best Supporting Actress respectively.

12 Years a Slave, which had been tipped for a number of awards, won Best Picture (Drama), but its director, Steve McQueen, lost out to Gravity's Alfonso Cuarón for Best Director.

Matthew McConaughey was named Best Actor (Drama) for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club, with his co-star, Jared Leto, winning Best Supporting Actor.

Cate Blanchett was named Best Actress (Drama) for Blue Jasmine, while the award for Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) went to Leonardo DiCaprio for The Wolf of Wall Street.

U2 and Brian Burton, aka Danger Mouse, won the Best Original Song award for Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, with Alex Ebert winning Best Original Score for his soundtrack to All is Lost.

Frozen was named Best Animated Film and The Great Beauty won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film.

Spike Jonze won Best Screenplay for Her.
