Despite recent speculation in the media, the creators of Love/Hate have not confirmed if the award-winning series will be coming to an end after a sixth season.
A spokesperson for RTÉ said of the reports: "We won't be commenting on speculation in the papers. RTÉ vigorously protect key plotlines surrounding Love/Hate. We don't want to affect our viewers' enjoyment of the new series or ruin the element of surprise."
They did confirm that there will be six episodes, not a rumoured 12, in the fifth series, which is set to start filming this month.
Actresses Aoibhinn McGinnity and Mary Murray, who play Nidge's wife, Trish, and mistress, Janet, recently revealed they were being kept in the dark about their return until this month so that storylines would remain under wraps.
