Acting great Omar Sharif Dublin-bound

Screen legend Omar Sharif is coming to Dublin next month as the Guest of Honour of the inaugural Dublin Arabic Film Festival (DAFF).

The Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago star will attend and introduce a screening of his Golden Globe-nominated 2003 film Monsieur Abraham at the Light House Cinema on Thursday May 8.

Also attending the festival will be Oscar-nominated Palestinian director Hany Abu-Assad, whose film Omar will close the festival on Sunday May 11.

Other guests include Egyptian director Ahmad Abdallah, Moroccan film and television director Nabil Ayouch and Lockerbie campaigner Dr Jim Swire.
