John Michael McDonagh's black comedy Calvary has gone straight to No 1 at the Irish box office, taking an impressive €358,790 over its opening weekend.
The film which stars Brendan Gleeson as a priest who is threatened by one of many of his oddball parishioners knocks biblical epic Noah off the top spot.
Animated sequel Rio 2 made a further €127,000 over the weekend while Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier drops two places to No 4 having cruised past the €1m mark in Ireland.
The second new release of the weekend, and in at number 7, is Hammer horror The Quiet Ones. The film grossed €35k from 42 cinemas nationwide while the third release of the week, The Raid 2, is at No 8.
Both Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Lego Movie are still hanging on in the Irish top 10.
