James Arthur dropped by Simon Cowell's Syco label

It's been reported that James Arthur has been dropped by Syco after controversy about a song on his new rap mixtape.

Simon Cowell's record label has reportedly sacked the 2012 X Factor winner after he included controversial lyrics in his All The World's A Stage mixtape.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the track Follow the Leader proved the last straw for Syco after a series of outbursts from the star.

While Arthur has so far not made any reference to being sacking on his Twitter page, he took to the social networking site today (April 6) to defend the track, apparently comparing it to Eminem's 2000 number one, Stan.

"The song 'follow the leader' from the mixtape is not promoting terrorism, it's a story, a reciting of a Stan Esc (sic) letter from a demented fan," he wrote. "Just for the record."

Cowell has recently commented on Arthur's behaviour, saying that the star should have "shut up and just put the records out".

The Syco boss said: "I think James, unfortunately, has had so many issues with what he has done publicly - which is a real issue with me.

"Somebody should have told him to shut up and just put the records out."

A Sony Music spokesperson said the company had no comment this morning (April 6).
