RTÉ Radio 1's The John Murray Show and RTÉ One's The Saturday Night Show have joined forces for a joint competition that aims to celebrate emerging Irish musicians.

Open to soloists, duos and bands across all genres, artists will have the opportunity of initial airplay on The John Murray Show, with the overall winner playing live on The Saturday Night Show.

The judging panel includes singer Jerry Fish, former Pogues bass player Cait O'Riordan and Caroline Henry from The Saturday Night Show.

The deadline for entries is 12 noon, Friday May 2.

Ann Marie Power, Editor of Entertainment and Music, RTÉ Radio 1, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for emerging musicians. Both shows are supporters of fledging Irish acts, including Little Green Cars, The Original Rudeboys, Villagers, Ham Sandwich, The Lost Brothers, Hudson Taylor and many, many more.

"RTÉ continues to give a platform to legions of new-to-air musicians who have made impressive radio, online and television debuts across RTÉ."
