Corrie star Paula Lane announces pregnancy

Coronation Street's Paula Lane has announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Tom Shaw.

Best known for portraying Kylie Platt in the long running soap, the 28-year-old actress broke the news via her Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

She tweeted: '@SirTomShaw and I are thrilled to announce we have a Christmas pud in the oven! SURPRISE!' 

It is thought her baby is due in December though no official due-date has been announced.

Paula and Tom, who are childhood sweethearts, tied the knot just three weeks ago with wedding guests including her Corrie cast-mates Jane Danson, Helen Worth and Jack P. Shepherd, who plays on-screen husband David.

Paula later thanked friends and family "for all your lovely messages".
