Ireland's favourite astronaut, Chris Hadfield, was the first person to tweet as Gaeilge from space and now he's released a YouTube video celebrating Canada Day.
In February 2013 Commander Hadfield, focused the world's attention on the Irish language and our country. It was Chris's daughter, Kirstin who encouraged him to promote Ireland due to her "happiness while staying here". Hadfield was honored with his efforts and is now an official Tourism Ambassador for the country.
Like many celebrities who have links with Ireland, he celebrated St. Patrick's day by tweeting a photo of himself in space. He was sporting a green jumper, a green bow-tie and singing a much-loved Irish tune, Danny Boy.
Cmdr Hadfield, who has become famous for his use of social media from space, released a music video today celebrating Canada Day. It's a fun video that looks at what makes the country and its traditions unique. It's one to watch for some wry humor.
