Electro artist FKA Twigs and poet Kate Tempest lead the pack in the nominations for this year's Mercury Music Prize, which takes place tonight in London. It's an esoteric list featuring seven debuts and three jazz albums. Check out our playlist here.
FKA Twigs, Tahliah Debrett Barnett from Gloucestershire, is 6/4 favourite to win with her debut LP1, along with London poet Tempest, who Ted Hughes Prize Tempest, and who also wowed the Kilkenny Arts Festival earlier this summer.
Tempest is 9/4 favourite to take the £25,000 prize money (and the spike in sales) for her album Everybody Down when the Mercury is awarded in a live televised broadcast from London on BBC Two tonight, October 29.
