The Rolling Stones open their deferred Australian tour in Adelaide tonight. The original dates were cancelled due to the passing of Mick Jagger's girl-friend, designer L'Wren Scott, on March 17 last.
Jagger returned to the US to organise Scott's funeral, which was attended by some of his children and grandchildren. It is understood that the postponement cost the band approximately $10 million.
A touring crew of about 130 people had already built the stage and readied the sound and lighting in Perth when news of Scott's death was announced.
Ronnie Wood arrived in Adelaide on October 15, ahead of his fellow band members. A wildlife fanatic, he visited the famed Adelaide Zoo while preparing for the tour.
Last Saturday he was joined by the remaining three band members as the band took a walk around the renovated Adelaide Oval, where they will perform this evening. The venue has seating for over 50,000 Stones fans. The band are also scheduled to play concerts in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, the Hunter Valley and Auckland in New Zealand.
