The Works goes backstage at Wexford Opera Festival

RTÉ arts show The Works goes behind the scenes for a preview of the 63rd Wexford Opera Festival tonight. Also on the show, Dublin band Fight Like Apes and Man Booker shortlisted writer Deborah Levy discuss their new projects.

The 63rd Wexford Opera Festival kicked off last Wednesday and runs until Sunday November 2. Tonight on RTÉ One at 8:30pm, The Works looks behind the curtain for a preview of this year's programme, including the European premiere of Kevin Puts' Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night, which is about the spontaneous Christmas truce between enemy combatants during the First World War.

The Wexford Opera House, which opened in 2008, was last night re-named The National Opera House at a ceremony marking the launch of this year's 12-day opera festival. This announcement means that Ireland will no longer be the only country in the EU not to have a national opera house.

Also on The Works this evening, Angela Dorgan chats to Dublin band Fight Like Apes, who will also unleash a track from their forthcoming album; and Sinéad Gleeson meets Man Booker shortlisted writer Deborah Levy and discusses her new release An Amorous Discourse in the Suburbs of Hell

Viewers also have a chance to win a trip to the Wexford Opera Festival with overnight accommodation. Keep an eye on the programme's live Twitter feed - @RTETheWorks – during the show to find out how to enter.
