Marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the most terrible of the Nazi concentration camps, Touched by Auschwitz is on BBC Two; Ear to The Ground asks why rural Ireland sill doesn't have broadband; more careworn medical drama on Grey's Anatomy on RTÉ2 - here's our top three picks for today's telly.
Touched by Auschwitz, BBC Two, 9.00pm
This one hour and half feature length documentary explores the experiences of six Auschwitz survivors who tell of their survival in the years after liberation and right up to the present day. Producer and Director Laurence Rees who made the excellent The Nazis: A Warning From History and Auschwitz: The Nazis and The Final Solution travelled extensively in order to film six survivors, along with their friends and families. Together these sequences filmed in Jerusalem and Chicago, London and Bavaria, Krakow and Tel Aviv build a compelling portrait of the problems, challenges and triumphs that six different individuals have experienced since the war, as a result of their time in Auschwitz.
Ear to The Ground, RTÉ One, 8.30pm
Tonight's edition of the rural affairs show is called Getting Connected and it investigates why much of Ireland is still in the dark ages when it comes to decent broadband. For presenter Helen Carroll it's personal - when she and her partner built their house in Kilkenny 13 years ago, she was told she would have broadband within 3 years. She is still waiting. Frustrated with the set up, Helen embarked on a journey to find out if she would ever have broadband. Along the way she met many others also trying to run businesses in rural Ireland, before heading to the offices of Minister for Communications Alex White to see what he had to say.
Grey's Anatomy, RTÉ2, 9.00
In this Maggie-centric episode, she continues to try to make a positive impression at the hospital but finds herself in extremely unfortunate situations. Meanwhile, Richard continues to hold onto his secret and the doctors work with a dying woman who is being kept alive by her daughter.
