Val Kilmer recovering after throat surgery

Val Kilmer is reported to be recovering in hospital after throat surgery to remove a suspected tumour.

According to TMZ, the actor – who played the Dark Knight in Batman Forever - was taken to UCLA Medical Centre in Santa Monica for treatment earlier this week.

The 55-year-old sought medical attention after apparently bleeding from the throat last Monday, January 26.

It's not clear if the condition is linked to a problem he suffered with last year, when he told a small claims court judge he was unable to speak because his tongue was swollen, during a dispute with his former landlord.

Kilmer was last spotted in public with his son Jack on January 16 at a Los Angeles Clippers' basketball game.
