Georgia May Foote who plays Katy Armstong on Coronation Street has ended her engagement of two years to childhood sweetheart John Sage.
The 24-year-old actress, who has filmed her final Weatherfield scenes, surprised fellow soap stars at her leaving party when she announced she had split from her fiancé.
According to The Sun, Foote ended her romance so that she could concentrate on the bright lights of Hollywood. A source told the paper: "She had her leaving do from Corrie last week.
"She was telling everyone they'd split up and she was looking forward to a future acting career in America...
"Everyone was very surprised because she has always been very happy with him and never been interested in the showbiz lifestyle."
Foote and Sage became engaged in 2013.
