Highlights of the Dun Laoghaire festival include special International Women's Day events with Sheila Hancock and a #readwomen panel including Irish fiction laureate, Anne Enright on March 8.
Fiction readers can look forward to readings by the young thriller writers, S.J. Watson and Paula Hawkins plus readings from Andrew O'Hagan, Polly Samson and Sarah Bannan. There will be a panel discussion with three of Ireland's finest young writers, Rob Doyle, Colin Barrett and Sara Baume. Paul Howard (aka Ross O'Carroll Kelly) will be in conversation with Róisín Ingle.
The celebrated poet Paul Durcan returns to read from a new collection of poems and LA Times crime reporter Jill Leovy discusses policing black neighbourhoods in the USA. Leading English novelist and critic, David Lodge, talks about his new memoir, Quite a Good Time to Be Born. Rory O'Neill aka Panti Bliss, will be closing the festival on the Sunday evening.
On the musical side of things, Compánach, an audio-visual recital will brings alive the encyclopaedic Companion To Irish Traditional Music with some of Ireland's finest performers.
The Poetry Now programme - now in its 20th year - features international poets Maureen McLane and David Ferry (USA) and Irish poets Peter Fallon, Peter Sirr and Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill. The Irish Times Poetry Now Prize will be awarded during the festival, the winner drawn from the shortlist, which is as follows: Theo Dorgan, Martina Evans, Vona Groarke , Kerry Hardie and Peter Sirr .
The Family programme includes guests Frank Cottrell Boyce, David Almond, Derek Landy, international story-tellers Simone Schuemmelfeder (Germany) and Juliette Saumande (France) , with Irish guests Shane Hegarty, David O'Doherty, Marita Conlon-McKenna.
The programme also includes Creative Writing Workshops including two Poetry Masterclasses, Ghostwriting, Writing Online and Publishing. This will be the first spring-time festival to be held in the recently-opened dlr LexIcon.
