The Saturday Night Show
9:50pm, RTÉ One
Another Brendan O'Connor-curated couch trip with something for everyone. Model Holly Carpenter will talk about the do's and don'ts of dating and comedian David McSavage will discuss his role in Martin McDonagh's The Pillowman. Former government minister Pat Carey will be discussing his sexuality, while another former minister, Mary O'Rourke, will join Senator Marie-Louise O'Donnell and comedian Al Porter to discuss the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon and will also review the film. Music on the night will come from Sharon Shannon and We Banjo 3.
Mastermind
8:35pm, BBC Two
Forty-three years in and still the best quiz show on TV. Tonight, the cool-yet-warm John Humphrys will be asking the questions about Kraftwerk (yes!), the novels of Douglas Coupland, the Turkish archaeological dig at Çatalhöyük and seaman Martin Frobisher. You always end up realising you know a bit more than you thought - and learn something new along the way.

The World's End
11:10pm, Sky Movies SF/Horror
And at the night's end, mirth and mayhem from director Edgar Wright and his Hot Fuzz/Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. This sci-fi pub crawl is yet another genre mash-up which takes in the gloom of turning 40, John Carpenter, broken Action Men, The Warriors, Blockbusters, fence mishaps and much more and serves up the one-liners and comebacks a lot quicker than our heroes can down their drinks. If you didn't like Pegg, Frost and Wright's previous movies, The World's End probably won't change your mind. But plenty who are old enough to know better feel glad that they don't.
