Distributor IFC Midnight has announced that it has acquired the US rights to the Ireland-shot and set horror The Hallow, which stars Joseph Mawle, Bojana Novakovic, Michael McElhatton and Michael Smiley.
Deadline.com reports that IFC Midnight announced the deal for the Corin Hardy-directed film at the European Film Market at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Co-produced by Irish company Fantastic Films and funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/The Irish Film Board, The Hallow (previously titled The Woods) tells the story of a conservationist who moves to rural Ireland with his wife and child, only to disturb demonic forces.
It was edited at Windmill Lane with Ardmore Sound also involved in post-production.
The Hallow was co-written by director Hardy and Felipe Marino and received its world premiere at the recent Sundance Film Festival in its Park City at Midnight section.
IFTN quotes producer John McDonnell of Fantastic Films as saying: "Fantastic Films are delighted to have collaborated with Occupant Entertainment on incredibly talented Corin Hardy's first movie The Hallow.
"The film has received rave reviews at its Sundance premiere and is selling extremely well, the hard work done by the crew and Windmill Lane supported by the Irish Film Board and Section 481 has made the journey really successful."
