The Consumer Show
8.30pm RTÉ One
Presented by Keelin Shanley, with reporters Tadhg Enright and Ella McSweeney (pictured). In episode one of the new series, Ella McSweeney reveals the issue that's costing our health service more than €20 million a year, and a lot of it is down to our love of chicken. It's been called the poultry industry's dirty secret, why the levels of bacteria are still so high on our supermarket shelves.

Suffragettes Forever! The Story Of Women And Power
8.00pm BBC TWO
Episode two of three in this appealing history series. The rather bright and breezy historian Amanda Vickery – who doesn't have the kind of haughty, Home Counties accent which, frankly, puts many Irish people off - uncovers Britain's 300 year-long campaign. Yep, that's the one waged by women for political and sex equality, revealing the largely forgotten heroines (and a few heroes.) Queen Victoria thought such campaigners should be punished. Despite this, things got better for women during her reign, despite resistance from government and monarchy. Hear of the spurned mistress of a Prime Minister, whose passionate campaign for mothers' child custody rights resulted in feminist legislation but had no effect on her own fate. Marvel at the passionate anti-sex-trade campaigner, who raised the age of consent and overthrew laws against prostitutes. Vickery also loks at the events that inspired Mrs Pankhurst and her daughters to resort to action.

This World: Surviving Sandy Hook
9.00pm BBC Two
The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting occurred on December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, when 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot 20 children and 6 adult staff members. While there have been additional resources allocated for mental health issues, it is still easier for many Americans to access a gun then to access quality mental health services, according to the director of this film, Jezza Neumann. There have been at least 94 school shootings in America since the Sandy Hook shootings, when news trucks camped out for months afterwards , damaging local business and blocking traffic. At least one reporter even crawled in through a window, or posed as "an old high school friend" to gain access to a grieving family. As Sandy Hook locals saw it, the press had invaded their town, and exploited their grief. "As a result, when the film's Producer Sarah Foudy first arrived in town, no one – and I mean no one – would talk to her, " says Neumann.
