This World: Britain's Jihadi Brides

9.00pm BBC TWO

Across the UK in recent times, families have been have been left devastated by the disappearance of their teenage daughters who have run away to join the so-called Islamic State. CCTV footage of three teenagers from the same school in Bethnal Green has heightened concerns and tonight's programme reveals how Islamic extremism is increasing via the internet. The so-called Islamic State is believed to be operating over 45,000 social media accounts and has its own film unit producing slick propaganda videos aimed at luring people to join.

The Halane twins from Manchester, with 28 GCSEs between them, left behind all hopes of becoming doctors to marry jihadi fighters, and became teenage widows in Syria within a few months. There is growing evidence that recruiters are actively approaching and targeting such young women online. Lea, a French teenager who was stopped by intelligence officers minutes before she was due to be collected by her radicaliser at her school gates, reveals how her radicalisation had taken just a few months.

The mother of Grace Dare talks for the first time since her daughter made headlines after tweeting that she wanted to become the first UK woman to kill a UK 'terrorist'. A studious Christian girl who converted to Islam when she was 18, Grace began calling herself Khadijah. She told her mother she was going away to study, but she has never seen her since.

Once in Syria many British girls, including the Halane twins and Khadijah Dare, seem to have become part of a group of Western women who use extremist propaganda to bolster the recruitment of people to their cause.

John Bishop's Australia

8.00pm RTÉ 2

In this final episode, John travels deep into tropical Australia. Pedalling through the heat and rain, John takes on a gruelling military fitness test, rides motorbikes with Vietnam veterans and gets completely caked in mud while working on a banana farm. As the trip reaches its conclusion, John takes in the breathtaking natural beauty of both the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, before ending his incredible journey with a surprising personal twist.

GAA USA

9.30pm TG4

Dara Ó Cinneide explores how the US clubs began to import Irish players, paying them to play in weekend games or for entire summers. At the start of the millennium a protest started against the payment of players. The view was that the money should be set aside to train young American kids, which would guarantee that the GAA would survive in America for future generations. The presenter visits teams all over America trying to get an-answer to this question. The matter clearly needs to be resolved if the GAA is to survive and grow in America and become a game that attracts all ethnic groups and not only the Irish-Americans who are already deeply involved.
