Sky Atlantic to simulcast GoT from next week

Future episodes of Game of Thrones will be simulcast by Sky Atlantic and HBO in the US from next Monday, April 21.

Sky has confirmed that it will now broadcast the popular fantasy drama at the same time as its US owners HBO at 2.00am UK time, while also retaining its prime-time 9.00pm screening on Monday evenings.

Game of Thrones season five premiere, The Wars to Come, aired last night (Monday, April 13) at 9.00pm on Sky Atlantic to a UK audience far larger than the usual audience for the channel at that time of the evening.

However, the premiere episode was simulcast with HBO in a number of other countries around the world and now the British broadcaster has decided to take the same approach.

Sky Atlantic tweeted: "We've had a word with the boss and from next Monday #GameOfThrones will be simulcast at 2am #GoTAtlantic"
