Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins has said she has been receiving death threats over recent speculation that she is set to take Jeremy Clarkson's place as the new presenter of Top Gear.
Perkins has since rubbished the rumours but fans of the show have been reacting strongly to the speculation.
This morning (April 14), Perkins tweeted: "Guys, post the utterly fabricated story about me & Top Gear, my timeline has been full of blokes wishing me dead . . . "
She followed her message up by tweeting: "This morning, someone suggested they'd like to see me burn to death." and announced that she would be taking a break from social media.
Last Thursday, Perkins, who is filming in India, tweeted: "Just back from night shoot in Kolkata sewers to find my timeline busy with middle-aged man-trolls. General gist: Man do cars, woman do cake".
