The Muppets to make small screen return

The Muppet Show is reportedly set to be revived by ABC.

The programme will return in a variety show format should the pilot presentation impress the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady and Anger Management's Bob Kushell are set to write the script for the pilot with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo all set to appear.

The original Muppet Show aired between 1976 and 1981.
