Drew Barrymore sits down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about marriage and motherhood, telling the talk show host that she won't repeat the life she lived growing up.
Talking to the famed TV host, the 37 year-old actress opened up about her wedding and recent birth of her first child, a daughter she named Olive.
Barrymore married Will Kopelman in June 2012, followed by the birth of their daughter last September.
"As a kid what I craved the most was just believing that [my mom] was going to be there", Barrymore explained to Winfrey when asked what she would do differently as a mother, compared with her own upbringing.
"I think the world offers so many wonderful varieties of obstacles, but that shouldn't be one for kids - the worry that my parents wont be there", she continued.
Speaking about her turbulent relationship with her own mother, Jaid, Barrymore explains that she was not present at her wedding. "She was not there, which was very hard", she explains. "We both discussed it and thought it would be best to keep her away from the ceremony".
Opening up about her daughter growing up and learning about the tough upbringing and issues the actress faced throughout her career, Barrymore said "I will absolutely instil in her that you cannot be ashamed of the journey that it took to get where you are if you are proud of yourself".
"But I will also try to instil on her that I did not have guidance and that is why I lived my life that way. There is no option for her to take that path because she has guidance".
The hour-long interview is set to air on Winfrey's network, OWN, tonight.
