Morning Edition, RTÉ's new live morning mix of news, sport, business, topical discussion and entertainment, begins on RTÉ One and the new digital News channel, RTÉ News Now, on Monday January 28 at 9:00am.
Presented by Keelin Shanley, Morning Edition will air Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 11:00am.
Speaking to RTÉ TEN, award-winning journalist Shanley said: "It's a whole new challenge. It's very exciting because you can still do the heavier stories, the stories of the day - there's not really anything you're going to have to cut out of this programme.
"But equally, you get to cover new areas. And I have worked in lighter areas before: my first job in RTÉ was doing film reviews on a daytime show. So it is exciting to get back to the live television thing."

Speaking to the RTÉ Guide about the new programme, Morning Edition producer and editor Anthony Murnane said: "It will have a bit of everything. It will have a spine that is news-based but this is morning television so the topics for discussion will be many. We are trying to attract a new audience to RTÉ in the morning."
He added: "We won't be doing fashion or cookery or astrology. But if there's a news story about a key Irish fashion designer we will cover that."
